Disney+ med Star
Ud over Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars og National Geographic sektionerne på Disney+, så vil tjenesten fra 23. februar 2021 også byde på en sektion kaldet Star. Det var en af udmeldingerne på Disneys Investor Day.
- "The Star brand will serve as home to thousands of hours of television and movies from Disney’s creative studios, including Disney Television Studios, FX, 20th Century Studios, 20th Television, and more, enhanced by the addition of local programming from the regions where available," annoncerede selskabet.
Star-sektionen vil henvende sig til det voksne publikum med over 1000 film, serier og tv-programmer fra bl.a. 20th Century paraplyen af tv/film-studier, som Disney har opkøbt. Nye værktøjer til forældre såsom PIN-kode vil kunne låse adgangen til Star. Frem mod 2024 skal der desuden produceres lokalt indhold til Star, men nærmere information må vi vente på. Målsætningen er 50 titler årligt fra 2024.

Disney+ streamer i op til 4K Dolby Vision på billedsiden og Dolby Atmos på lydsiden. En god portion af indholdet fra 20th Century Studios findes i den højere kvalitet.
Disney+ bliver dyrere
Disney bekræfter, at Danmark og Norden er i første pulje, som får adgang til Star. Det er planen, at Star på længere sigt skal udrulles globalt og blive en integreret del af Disney+ konceptet.
Samtidig med integrationen af Star bliver Disney+ dyrere. Prisen stiger med 20 kr/md. fra 59 kr/md. til 79 kr/md.

- A Single Entertainment Destination for All Audiences: All the content, including movies, shows, shorts, and originals from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic, plus an additional 1000 unique titles under the new Star brand in the first year.
- Exclusive Originals: Over the next few years, Disney+ plans to add over 60 brand new originals from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic, and Star, along with local productions being created for the service under the Star brand geared towards a more mature audience.
- Robust Parental Controls: To keep Disney+ suitable for audiences of all ages and the experience parents expect, new parental controls will include the ability to set limits on access to content for specific profiles based on content ratings and the ability to add a PIN to lock profiles with access to mature content.
