Den 20. softwareopdatering
Tv-boksen Nvidia Shield blev præsenteret for over tre år siden i marts 2015. Selskabet siger, at dette er den 20. softwareopdatering siden lancering.

Opdateringen gør det blandt andet muligt at bruge tastatur og mus på Geforce Now, som er selskabets streamingtjeneste til spil. Der kan også chattes i spil.
Nvidia Shield har nu 120Hz skærm-tilstand, såfremt din tv-skærm eller monitor understøtter det. Præcis hvordan 120Hz tilstanden fungerer, uddybes dog ikke. Selskabet har også gjort det muligt igen at dele gampeplay på Twitch.
Nvidia Shield lancerer samtidig en mobil-app med virtuelt tastatur og mus, så de bliver nemmere at indtaste tekst i spil og tjenester. ’Nvidia Shield TV’ app’en er tilgængelig på iOS og Android, men virker kun, hvis din Shield TV kører seneste software (version 7.1).
I maj 2018 begyndte Nvidia efter lang ventetid at udrulle Android Oreo, som byder på en helt ny brugerflade. Shield TV er blevet solgt dels som medieboks, dels som spilkonsol. App-kataloget halter imidlertid efter andre populære tv-platforme på Apple TV, Fire TV og Roku, samtidig med, at Shield slet ikke er lige så kraftfuld som PlayStation 4 og Xbox One. Selskabet forsøger pt. at opbygge Geforce Now-tjenesten, hvor PC-spil kan streames over internettet til tv-skærmen.
Softwareversion 7.1 er gratis og kan downloades nu på 2015 og 2017 Shield TV. Mobil-app’en er også frigivet.
