Please wait for a Samsung Agent to respond.

Sharon: Hi, thanks for reaching out to Samsung tech support. How can I help you today?
Visitor: Hi, I have a samsung LED 7900 series
Visitor: tv
Visitor: Im moving to Europe with it, but im having a hard time finding out some details.
Sharon: Please go ahead with your query.
Visitor: Can the TV recieve 25 and/or 50 hz signals via HDMI?
Sharon: I understand that you want to know if the TV can receive 25 and/or 50 hz signals via HDMI. Is that correct?
Visitor: Yes
Sharon: Thanks for confirming.
Sharon: May I know the complete model number of the unit?
Visitor: 2 sec
Sharon: Sure, please go ahead.
Visitor: UN46D7900
Sharon: Thanks for the model number.
Sharon: I see that you are not chatting from the U.S. Did you purchase the unit in the U.S?
Visitor: I am, just via employee server based in Europe. The TV was bought in US yes
Sharon: Thank you.
Sharon: Do you want to use the TV in another country?
Visitor: yes - in Denmark
Visitor: so there are 2 issues - signal type (Planning on using HDMI via Hard disc recorder) and voltage
Sharon: Please click on the link below to get the information on if you can use the TV in another country:
Sharon:
http://www.samsung.com/us/support/Suppo ... fm_seq=745
Sharon: Are you able to access the above link?
Visitor: Yes
Sharon: Thanks for confirming.
Visitor: But it foes not fully answer my question.
Visitor: As I want to use a Hard Disc recorder between the TV and the signal the signal type makes no difference. Just want to make sure that the HDMI the TV recieves her ein US is the same in Europe..
Sharon: Yes, the HDMI will receive the same type as in the US.
Visitor: Okay, so if a had a "tivo" similar box in Europe, that connects to the TV via HDMI it would work just fine?
Sharon: The only matter is the signal of the country differs and the function of the ports of the TV will be the same.
Visitor: And as the signal is sent to a box and then transfered via HDMI (Hence bypassing the tuner in the TV) tehr eshoudl be no problem
Sharon: You need to use the signal converter if you connect the Tivo box to the TV also.
Sharon: As the TIVO box in their country doesn't carry the NTSC signals.
Visitor: But, a Hard Disc recorder will take the signal in.. But the connection to the TV is via HDMI - hence the signal is already transformed right?
Visitor: When sending via the HDMI cabel you do not need a tuner as I understand?! (hende no need to look at what tuner signal the TV can take)
Sharon: Would you mind holding a few minutes while I gather the required information for your request?
Visitor: yes of course. Have one more question, but think that is more simple
Sharon: Thank you.
Sharon: Thanks for holding.
Visitor: np
Sharon: There is no need to use a converter if you connect the hard disc recorder to the TV.
Sharon: But you need use a converter if you connect the Tivo box to the TV.
Visitor: Yes - just used the TIVO box as example.. Will use a box that can take the signal in Denmark and only send it via hdmi.
Sharon: Then also you need to use a converter as the signals from the TIVO are sent to the TV.
Sharon: I don’t mean to rush you, but I haven't heard back from you. Are we still chatting?
Visitor: But the signal send via HDMI is not PAL, NTSC or anything else??!!
Visitor: got my message?
Sharon: Yes, if the device that you are connecting to the TV carries NTSC signals then you can connect it without the converter.
Visitor: I do not understand
Sharon: As the TV is designed to work on NTSC signals, the TV will accept only NTSC signals from the device that is connected to it.
Visitor: If a a box (HDD recorder) recieves the signal i PAL and is then connected to the TV via HDMI, as I understand HDMI it does NOT send the PAL signal on... The TV will not use its own tuner but only act as a monitor, hence you bypass the tuner in the TV that demands NTSC?!
Visitor: NTSC signal (Or pal) can not pass via HDMI ...
Sharon: Please let me explain you.
Sharon: The HDMI sends some type of signals to the TV to get the picture on the TV.
Sharon: The signals sent by the HDMI in other country are not NTSC and you will get a black and white picture if you use it without a converter.
Sharon: If you connect a hard disk to the TV then you can use it without any converter as the file system of the hard disk in all the countries is the same.
Visitor: Okay - so if I use a HDD recorder from Samsung that is sold i DK where the signal is recieved from the cable, then connecting it via HDMI should work just fine... (WIll have to change channels etc on teh HDD recorder) but the picture will show?
Sharon: Yes, you are correct.
Visitor: Pheww

- ok, and now the simple question.
Sharon: Please go ahead.
Visitor: Voltage - there are so many types etc, a simple trasnformer should be sufficient right?
Sharon: Yes, you can use a normal transformer to convert the voltage.
Visitor: Tahnk you Sharon... Just for my info, since it seem to be the point we went wrong on each other. What is the difference between a "tico-a-like"box and a HDD recorder?
Visitor: tico=tivo
Sharon: The TIVO box is a set up box type which tunes the signals and the HDD is a device that works on the file format system.
Visitor: so in short - a tivo box passes on the signal via HDMI while a HDD box transferes the signal into a file format and then sends on?
Visitor: via hdmi
Sharon: Yes, you are absolutely correct.
Visitor: good thing its not complicated...
Visitor:

Thanks for the help!
Sharon: I appreciate the patience you displayed while we worked together on this issue.
Sharon: You're welcome. Is there anything else I can assist you with?
Visitor: likewise. Have a good day!
Visitor: nope, thats it
