Sonos Era 100 erstatter Sonos One, mens Era 300 er skabt til rumlig lyd – spatial audio – og kan fungere som baghøjttalere til Sonos Beam eller Arc soundbarer med op til 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos.
Information om Era var lækket på forhånd, men Sonos har nu officielt præsenteret Era 100 og Era 300, som kommer i handlen i Danmark og andre lande i denne måned. Selskabet kalder Era 300 for en "banebrydende spatial audio-højttaler".

Denne fortælling om fortrinlighederne ved rumlig lyd er en, som Apple, Sony og andre har fortalt i nogle år nu med højttalere såsom HomePod og hovedtelefoner såsom AirPods.

Op til 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos
Begge Sonos-højttalere er først og fremmest musikhøjttalere, men ligesom tidligere højttalere kan købere parre dem med en Sonos soundbar for at få surround-lyd.
Era 300 er Sonos' første højttaler med understøttelse af multi-kanals surround-lyd og Dolby Atmos, når de bruges som baghøjttalere. Dette kræver en Dolby Atmos-kompatibel TV-skærm med HDMI ARC/eARC eller en medieafspiller såsom Apple TV 4K eller Nvidia Shield.

Sonos forklarer, at "når du parrer to Era 300-højttalere med Arc og Sub, åbner du op for en forbløffende 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos-oplevelse. Når de parres med Beam (Gen 2) og Sub, får du en fordybende 5.1.4-oplevelse".

Dolby Atmos musik
Era 300 er udstyret med seks enheder, der dirigerer lyden til venstre, højre, fremad og opad. Den understøtter Dolby Atmos-musik fra Amazon Music og Apple Music, hvilket betyder, at Sonos bliver den første til at understøtte Apple Music's Dolby Atmos, foruden Apples egen HomePod.

En anden nyhed er, at en USB-C med line-in-adapter gør det muligt at tilslutte enheder såsom en pladespiller via et kabel. Adapteren sælges separat.
Der er omvendt ikke understøttelse af Google Assistant.
Era 300 koster 3.699 kroner per styk og kommer på det danske marked den 28. marts.

Six class-D digital amplifiers precision-tuned for the speaker's unique acoustic architecture power your sound experience.
Tweeters
Four tweeters ensure faithful playback of high and mid-range frequencies. The forward-firing mid tweeter provides a smooth center image while two side-firing mid tweeters create stereo separation. Loaded into a directional horn, the upward-firing tweeter reflects sound off the ceiling when playing Dolby Atmos content.
Woofers
Two woofers maximize low-end output and are angled left and right to support stereo playback.
Microphones
The far-field microphone array uses advanced beamforming and multichannel echo cancellation for quick and accurate voice control and Trueplay tuning. Disconnect by toggling off the mic switch.
Adjustable EQ
Use the Sonos app to adjust bass, treble, and loudness.
Trueplay
This software measures the acoustics of the room then fine-tunes the EQ. Compatible with iOS and Android devices.
