Sony har i dag meldt ud, at PlayStation Plus og PlayStation Now fusioneres til en ny spiltjeneste, der kører videre med PlayStation Plus-navnet. Der kommer tre prisniveauer og op til 740 spil.

Ny PS Plus-spiltjeneste
Sony har bekræftet rygtet. Virksomheden lancerer i juni sit modsvar til Microsofts Xbox Game Pass. Tjenesten lanceres i Danmark og mange andre lande.

- "I dag er vi glade for at kunne dele officielle nyheder med dig om ændringer, der kommer til vores abonnementstjenester. I juni samler vi PlayStation Plus og PlayStation Now i en helt ny PlayStation Plus-abonnementstjeneste, der giver flere valgmuligheder til kunder på tværs af tre medlemsniveauer globalt," sagde Jim Ryan, President & CEO, Sony Interactive Entertainment (oversat).

PS Plus Essential byder på de nuværende PS Plus-fordele til samme pris. PS Plus Extra tilføjer op til 400 PS4- og PS5-spil til download heriblandt visse eksisterende titler fra PlayStation Studios. PS Plus Premium tilføjer op til 340 ekstra PS3-, PS2-, PS1- og PSP-spil, hvoraf nogle kan downloades og streames, mens andre (PS3) skal streames, plus spildemoer.

Ved lancering vil Sony inkludere spil som Death Stranding, God of War, Marvel's Spider-Man, Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Mortal Kombat 11 og Returnal. Kataloget vil blive opdateret regelmæssigt, men kommende spil fra Sonys spilstudier vil ikke blive tilføjet samtidig med, at de frigives til køb.

PS Now vil blive flettet ind i den nye spiltjeneste og ikke længere være tilgængelig som en selvstændig tjeneste.

Sony har pt. 48 millioner PS Plus-abonnenter. I maj sidste år bekræftede Sony, at der var 3,2 mio. PS Now-abonnenter. Til sammenligning har Microsoft over 25 millioner Xbox Game Pass-abonnenter.

Der lanceres i faser. I juni starter lanceringen i Asien, efterfulgt af Nordamerika, Europa og resten af ​​verden. Sony forventer, at spiltjenesten vil være klar på de fleste markeder ved udgangen af ​​første halvår 2022. De danske priser kendes endnu ikke.

- Offers cloud streaming access for original PlayStation, PS2, PSP and PS4 games offered in the Extra and Premium tiers in markets** where PlayStation Now is currently available. Customers can stream games using PS4 and PS5 consoles, and PC.*** 
- Time-limited game trials will also be offered in this tier, so customers can try select games before they buy.

PlayStation Plus Deluxe (Select Markets): For markets without cloud streaming, PlayStation Plus Deluxe will be offered at a lower price compared to Premium, and includes a catalog of beloved classic games from the original PlayStation, PS2 and PSP generations to download and play, along with time-limited game trials. Benefits from Essential and Extra tiers are also included. Local pricing will vary by market.
