Yamaha "undersøger stadig" den fejlbehæftede HDMI 2.1 chip i nuværende AV-receivere, men det har ikke afholdt selskabet fra at annoncere nye receivere med HDMI 2.1 funktionalitet.

Yamaha Japan har afsløret Aventage RX-A8A, RX-A6A, and RX-A4A. De tre receivere er alle specificeret som HDMI 2.1-kompatible med 8K60 og 4K120 passthrough samt HDMI VRR, QMS, QFT and ALLM.

Det store spørgsmål er naturligvis, om HDMI 2.1 funktionaliteten rent faktisk virker? Ligesom Sound Uniteds seneste Denon og Marantz receivere, så er Yamahas første generation af HDMI 2.1 receivere (RX-A2A, V6A, V4A) fra 2020 udstyret med en fejlbehæftet HDMI 2.1 chip.
Yamaha Aventage RX-A8A, RX-A6A og RX-A4A receivere
I sin præsentation omtaler Yamaha dybdegående de muligheder, som HDMI 2.1 funktionerne i de nye receivere åbner for, men det fremgår også, at HDMI 2.1 "will be supported by updating the firmware" – ikke ligefrem betryggende taget den nuværende situation in mente.
Yamaha RX-A8A, RX-A6A og RX-A4A er high-end receivere med henholdsvis 11, 9 og 7 kanals forstærkere. De understøtter Auro 3D foruden Dolby Atmos, DTS:X og meget andet. Yderligere detaljer fremgår af tabellen (oversat fra japansk).
Selskabet siger, at den nye generation af AV-receivere med HDMI 2.1 lanceres på hjemmemarkedet Japan i slutningen af juli eller starten af august. Yamaha har endnu ikke sat dato på den europæiske lancering.
