Ny Apple TV 4K med A12 Bionic, redesignet fjernbetjening
Apple har i dag afsløret næste generation af Apple TV-boksen. Den nye, opgraderede Apple TV 4K byder på 'A12 Bionic' chip, en redesignet Siri-fjernbetjening, HDR i højere billedfrekvens, HDMI 2.1, WiFi 6 mm.2021 Apple TV 4K
Tre år og syv måneder skulle der gå før Apple TV 4K fik en afløser. Selskabet har i dag præsenteret en opdateret Apple TV 4K. Den bruger nu A12 Bionic chippen i stedet for A10X i den tidligere boks. Apple har også redesignet Siri-fjernbetjeningen. Den er stadig i aluminium og Siri-knappen er flyttet til siden. Siri udvides til flere lande, men endnu ikke Danmark. - "The all-new Siri Remote features an innovative clickpad control that offers five-way navigation for better accuracy, and is also touch-enabled for the fast directional swipes Apple TV users love. The outer ring of the clickpad supports an intuitive circular gesture that turns it into a jog control," sagde selskabet. "The new Siri Remote also has a power button that controls a TV’s power, and another for mute, making it the only remote needed while enjoying TV."
HDR i højere billedfrekvenser
Den opgraderede boks kan nu håndtere HDR (High Dynamic Range) video i højere billedfrekvens (HFR), hvilket i denne forbindelse dækker over 60fps, ifølge Apple. Selskabet tilføjer, at man samarbejder med "leading video providers around the world, including FOX Sports, NBCUniversal, Paramount+, Red Bull TV, and Canal+, as they begin to stream in high frame rate HDR". Den vil også understøtte 60fps Dolby Vision fra en iPhone 12 Pro. Herudover åbner tvOS 14.5 opdateringen, at der understøttes både heltals- og brøkfrekvenser, altså både 24.000 og 23.976fps for mere flydende videoafspilning. Samme funktionalitet kommer til eksisterende bokse med tvOS 14.5 i næste uge. Der blev ikke nævnt noget om 120fps support på trods af, at der er fundet referencer til 120Hz output i beta-udgaven af tvOS 14.5. - "Apple TV 4K is in a category of its own, leveraging a deep integration of Apple hardware, software, and services that delivers a massive upgrade to any TV for the very best cinematic experience," sagde Bob Borchers, Apple’s CP for Worldwide Product Marketing. Auto-kalibrering via iPhone
En ny funktion indbygget i 2021 Apple TV 4K er auto-kalibrering via en iPhone. - "Through an innovative color balance process, Apple TV works with iPhone and its advanced sensors to improve a television’s picture quality. Apple TV uses the light sensor in iPhone to compare the color balance to the industry-standard specifications used by cinematographers worldwide. Using this data, Apple TV automatically tailors its video output to deliver much more accurate colors and improved contrast — without customers ever having to adjust their television settings," forklarer selskabet.HDMI 2.1 - men til hvad?
Apple oplyser i sine specifikationer, at boksen understøtter HDMI 2.1, men det er uklart til hvilket formål. 4K ved 60 billeder per sekund, som blev fremhævet under præsentationen, er indenfor rammerne af HDMI 2.0. Den nye tvOS 14.5 opdatering tilføjer understøttelse af PS5's DualSense og Xbox Series X/S controllere. Boksen findes stadig i 32GB og 64GB til hhv. 1.499 og 1.699 kroner. Den kan bestilles fra 30. april og leveres fra andel halvdel af maj. Den nye fjernbetjening er kompatibel med de tidligere bokse og vil kunne købes særskilt for 499 kroner. Den gamle Apple TV 4K udgår, men Apple TV HD forbliver på markedet til 1.299 kroner.
