WarnerMedias kommende streamingtjeneste er blevet døbt HBO Max og vil, foruden HBO-kataloget, byde på bl.a. alle episoder af Friends og Rap Fyr i LA, når den lanceres i foråret 2020.
HBO... maksimeret
WarnerMedia siger, at den nye streamingtjeneste vil blive "maximized" med et omfattende katalog af original-produktioner (Max Originals) og det bedste fra egne indholdskataloger.
Det dækker over eksisterende og nyt indhold fra HBO, Warner Bros, New Line, DC Entertainment, CNN, TNT, The CW, Turner Classic Movies, Cartoon Network samt andre studier, der nu hører under amerikanske AT&T's WarnerMedia paraply.
- "HBO Max will bring together the diverse riches of WarnerMedia to create programming and user experiences not seen before in a streaming platform. HBO’s world-class programming leads the way, the quality of which will be the guiding principle for our new array of Max Originals, our exciting acquisitions, and the very best of the Warner Bros. libraries, starting with the phenomenon that is 'Friends'," sagde Robert Greenblatt, chairman, WarnerMedia Entertainment.
Selskabet bekræfter, at HBO Max vil indeholde alle 236 episoder af Friends (Venner) samt alle episoder af The Fresh Prince of Bel Air (Rap Fyr i LA) og Pretty Little Liars plus nye produktioner som Dune: The Sisterhood og en animeret serie om Gremlins.
Det forventes, at der ved lancering vil ligge mere end 10.000 timers underholdning klar. Se tabellen længere nede over bekræftede nyproduktioner, som bliver tilgængelige eksklusivt på tjenesten.

Friends forlader Netflix
Friends er stadig blandt de mest populære tv-serier selvom vi er på vej ind i en ny tv-æra af streamingtjenester. Serien er i mange regioner tilgængelig på Netflix, men med lanceringen af HBO Max trækkes indhold fra konkurrenterne i takt med, at aftalerne udløber. Friends forlader Netflix i slutningen af 2019.
- "The One Where We Have To Say Goodbye. We’re sorry to see Friends go to Warner's streaming service at the beginning of 2020 (in The US). Thanks for the memories, gang," oplyser Netflix.
Det står ikke klart, hvad der skal ske med HBO Nordic og amerikanske pendant HBO Now efter lanceringen af HBO Max. Wall Street Journal har tidligere skrevet, at den nye tjeneste skal koste omkring 16-17 dollars, hvilket vil gøre den dyrere end Netflix. WarnerMedia har endnu ikke kommenteret på prisniveauet.
Nærmere detaljer hvad angår platformsupport, billed/lydkvalitet samt lanceringsregioner blev ikke annonceret. Det er planen, at HBO Max skal lanceres globalt, men om det sker fra start, vides ikke.
Som led i annonceringen bekræfter WarnerMedia, at lanceringen af HBO Max er blevet udskudt fra slutningen af 2019 til foråret 2020. WSJ skrev tidligere, at den åbnes i "beta" senere i 2019.
