Amazon Channels er endnu ikke lanceret i Danmark, men lanceringen i England, Tyskland og Østrig giver os et indblik i planerne om at udvide streamingtjenesten til at omfatte tv-kanaler. Det er vel nok det tætteste vi endnu er kommet på frit valg af tv-kanaler - uden grundpakke.

Tv-kanaler via streaming
I USA pibler det frem med streamingtjenester som tilbyder tv-kanaler. Lidt i stil med YouSee, Stofa, Boxer og de andre, men med apps som indgang til universet. Det er sådan en tjeneste, som Amazon nu lancerer i tre udvalgte lande i Europa.

Tjenesten er blevet opbygget i USA siden 2015 og kommer altså nu til Europa. Samtlige tv-kanaler sælges enkeltvis og man kan opsige når som helst, lyder det. For at komme i gang kræves abonnement til Prime, der bl.a. giver gratis fragt hos Amazon.

"From live sport to Bollywood, arthouse cinema to reality TV, and award-winning TV shows from popular channels like Discovery and ITV, Amazon Channels gives power back to customers to choose exactly what they want to watch."


Samme tiltag efterlyses i Danmark
Danskerne kan endnu ikke nyde godt af mulighederne, men det kan give os et praj om i hvilken retning Amazons streamingtjeneste vil udvikle sig. Ud over at tilbyde et katalog af tv-serier og film, vil Amazon sælge tv-kanaler enkeltvis.

Det er vel og mærke sådan en tjeneste, som politikere i Danmark har efterspurgt. YouSee, Stofa og Boxer har henover årene forsøgt at lancere frit valg af tv-kanaler. I visse tilfælde har det krævet en grundpakke, mens det i andre tilfælde har krævet et månedligt abonnementsgebyr, som ikke har dækket over indhold. I alle tilfælde har det været leveret via eksisterende infrastruktur.

Amazon bruger streamingteknologi, som giver fleksibilitet. Der er f.eks. ikke begrænsninger hvad angår antallet af kanaler, ligesom der er i de dedikerede tv-sendenet, hvorfor udbuddet fra Amazon inkluderer adskillige niche-kanaler.

Den danske tjeneste Watz Me Now forsøgte sig i en periode at levere tv-pakke via streaming, men de tilbød ikke frit valg og manglede flere af de mest populære danske kanaler. Tjenesten er i dag lukket.

Hos Amazon integreres alle kanaler i Amazon Video app’en, hvorfra man kan søge på tværs af tjenesterne efter indhold. I England tilbydes 40 kanaler, herunder ITV, Eurosport og Discovery. I Tyskland tilbydes 25 kanaler. Flere følger i de kommende måneder, lyder det fra Amazon. Man kan se med på tv-skærmen, PC og mobile enheder.
