Sony har på CES-messen afsløret planerne for 2018, der bl.a. dækker over flere serier af LCD-tv. En af nyhederne er XF90, som benytter zone-styring og Dolby Vision til at vække billeder til live. Alle skærme har Android TV.

Sony XF90 LCD
XF90 bliver et af Sonys high-end TV i 2018. Modelserien lanceres i formater på 49 til 75 tommer, alle med 4K-opløsning, Sonys mest kraftfulde videoprocessor og understøttelse af 3 HDR-formater, herunder Dolby Vision.

Sony sætter ikke konkrete tal på, men siger, at XF90 gør brug af ’X-tended Dynamic Range Pro’ teknologi, som ”forbedrer indhold i HDR og non-HDR ved at booste og dæmpe bagbelysningen præcist for hver zone vha. unik bagbelysningsteknologi”. Antallet af zoner kendes ikke, men vi jagter yderligere detaljer på CES.


Herudover byder XF90 på en ny teknologi, som Sony har døbt ’X-Motion Clarity’. Hensigten er at forbedre gengivelse af hurtig bevægelse på LCD-panelet. Det forklares, at teknologien ”udnytter Sonys proprietære bagbelyste LED zone-styring og algoritmer til at booste bagbelysningen for at styre lysstyrken og optimere varigheden”, hvilket altså skulle bidrage til at få bevægende objekter på skærmen til at fremstå skarpere. Det lyder umiddelbart som en udvidet form for såkaldt ”backlight scanning”.

Afslutningsvis fremhæver Sony, at XF90 er designet til at kunne matche en ny Dolby Atmos-soundbar, som lanceres i 2018. Soundbaren får modelnavnet HT-XF9000.

Sony XF85 og XF80 LCD
Sony annoncerede yderligere to LCD-serie i mellemklassen. XF85 lanceres i formater fra 43 til 85 tommer, mens XF80 lanceres i 43 til 55 tommer.

Alle skærmene har 4K-opløsning og er baseret på Android TV-platformen. Kun XF85 har X1-videoprocessoren. Sony hævder, at LCD-skærmene også kan håndtere HDR, men i og med, at de mangler zone-styring får man næppe overbevisende resultater. Flatpanels testarbejde har vist, at for at gengive det meget store kontrastspænd i HDR-indhold, skal et LCD-tv have avanceret zone-styring.

Sonys modelprogram for 2018 fremvises på CES 2018 i denne uge og lanceres til foråret. Flatpanels er i Las Vegas og jagter bl.a. priser.
