NBCUniversals Peacock – påfugl – letter sine vinger i USA i dag. Den nye streamingtjeneste kommer senere til Europa med film fra bl.a. Universal og DreamWorks.

Påfuglen er lettet

Apple TV+, Disney+ og HBO Max er alle blevet lanceret indenfor det seneste år. Med Peacock skyder NBCUniversal sin streamingtjeneste i gang. Det er den sidste store tjeneste i det, som amerikanerne har døbt 'streaming wars'. Peacock kommer først senere til Europa, men til de nysgerrige så ser det sådan her ud i USA:
  • Gratis, reklamefinansieret adgang til ca. 13.000 timers underholdning
  • 5 dollars per måned for adgang til 20.000 timers, indhold stadig med reklamer
  • 10 dollars per måned for at slippe for reklamerne Navnet Peacock er en reference til NBCs klassiske logo med påfuglevingerne. I dag hører filmstudierne Universal og DreamWorks under samme selskab. Ved lancering tilbyder Peacock ikke videostreaming i 4K HDR og Dolby Atmos. Det samme var en mangelvare, da HBO Max for nylig gik i luften, mens Apple TV+ og Disney+ matcher eller overgår Netflix på disse punkter.


    Fra studiet der trodsede biografer

    Tjenesten er i USA tilgængelig på Apple TV (herunder Apple TV app'en), Android TV, Chromecast, Xbox One, Vizio TV og LG webOS TV (version 3.5 eller senere). Som så ofte før er ejere af få år gamle Smart TV afskåret. Tjenesten er heller ikke at finde på de to største TV-platforme i USA, Roku og FireTV. Filmstudiet Universal har senest gjort sig bemærket ved at frigive og rykke biograffilm til streaming, hvilket førte til en offentlige fejde med verdens største biografkæde AMC, der har svoret at boycotte alle biograffilm fra Universal. Filmen som startede det hele, Trolls World Tour, kommer på Peacock senere.
