Netflix melder om rekordvkst

Netflix vokser hurtigere end nogensinde og satte i 4. kvartal rekord med 8,3 mio. nye kunder. Selskabet forventer, at Disney og Apple vil etablere sig som direkte konkurrenter.

Selskabets milliardinvesteringer i tv-serier, dokumentarer og senest film tiltrkker seere verden over. Netflix har, iflge rsregnskabet for 2017, 117,5 mio. abonnenter og langt flere seere.

Der er flere internationale end lokale kunder i butikken (57,8 vs 52,8 mio.) og Netflix forventer, at tendensen forstter i takt med, at de lrer lokale kulturer bedre at kende. I dette kvartal forventer Netflix at tilfje yderligere 6,35 mio. nye kunder, heraf 4,9 mio. udenfor USA.

- In Q4, we registered global net adds of 8.3 million, the highest quarter in our history and up 18% vs. last years record 7.05 million net adds. This exceeded our 6.3m forecast due primarily to stronger than expected acquisition fueled by our original content slate and the ongoing global adoption of internet entertainment.

Apple & Disney vil udfordre Netflix

Netflix frigiver film p samme tidspunkt verden over. Regnskabet viser, at kunderne kvitterer med loyalitet ved at forblive abonnenter i butikken efter i rtier at have mtte acceptere branchens vinduesmodel, der dikterer, at film frigives i biografen frst.

Overgangen fra linert tv til streaming er i sin startfase, s hvem kan udfordre Netflix? Giganten forventer ikke nvnevrdigt modspil fra de klassiske tv-distributrer. Det bliver i stedet Amazon, Google, Facebook, Disney og... Apple.

- Amazon Studios is likely to bring in a strong new leader given their large content budgets, and Apple is growing its programming, which we presume will either be bundled with Apple Music or with iOS, skriver Netflix i sit rsregnskab. Disney is in the process of acquiring most of 21st Century Fox and plans to launch a direct-to-consumer service in 2019 with a beloved brand and great franchises. The market for entertainment time is vast and can support many successful services.

Selskabet forventer at investere $7.5-8 mia. dollars i indhold i r og regner med at frigive omtrent 80 film, foruden en bunke nye tv-serier, dokumentarer, comedy mv.
